The LIFT (Lifeline to Ignite Financial Transformation) Program by Samaritan House is an initiative aimed at empowering single mothers in San Mateo County to achieve financial stability and self-sufficiency.
This 24-month, privately funded pilot program provides supplemental income alongside crucial education, financial literacy, and skill-building opportunities. Through targeted case management and volunteer financial coaches, participants receive personalized guidance to develop better financial habits, increase their income, build savings, and plan for long-term financial security. While not a guaranteed income program, LIFT focuses on equipping single mothers with the tools and knowledge to break the cycle of poverty, address the region’s income inequality, and support their socio-economic mobility. The program’s emphasis on education and skill-building is key to fostering lasting change, helping these families create sustainable financial futures.
