Community Appreciation Event
Thanks so much to all our friends – supporters, volunteers, elected officials, alumni, and staff – who made our “40th Anniversary Community Appreciation Event” such a tremendous success. Over 250 members of the “Samaritan House Family” turned out for fun, food and festivities at the Elks Lodge.
Co-chairs extraordinaire, Pam Frisella and Suzanne Taylor, really outdid themselves on this party.
State Senator Jerry Hill was eloquent, nostalgic and prophetic as he reviewed where we have been and where we are going.
Everyone enjoyed seeing former Executive Director, John Kelly.
Old friends met new friends.
We are Samaritan House, we are a community, and we are truly the great heart of a great community!

2014 Backpack Drive and Distribution
This year’s backpack drive was a huge success! We collected more than 500 backpacks for our littlest clients in need, which we handed out during two distribution events. As our CEO, Bart Charlow, said: “They’ll all start with some bright new backpacks and school supplies. Notice to clients & volunteers of new space for dining room
Please Note: Beginning November 12, 2013, Samaritan House’s Dining Room will relocate from Westside Church of Christ in San Mateo to a new, temporary location at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center, located at 725 Monte Diablo Avenue.
• Last day of dinner services at Westside Church will be Friday, November 8th
• Dinners will be served from the King Center until further notice
• Meals served from the new location will be wrapped, to-go meals rather than sit-down dinners
• Volunteers will be asked to come to our Samaritan House kitchen between 3-3:30pm each day to help with meal preparation as well as help distribute at the King Center between 5 and 6pm
