Did you know Samaritan House has programs dedicated exclusively to children? It’s true! Federal data revealed that 1 in 5 U. S. children currently need food stamps to eat. With the help of our supporters, volunteers and donors we can provide programs that give food, clothing, school supplies, books, toys and values education as well.
Kids Closet At our Kids Closet families can “shop” for their children for free! Our registered families obtain monthly clothing vouchers from the client services department. They use those vouchers to shop in our Kids Closet and pick out their own new and gently used clothes. We always need donations of boys for all ages and books.
Summer Lunches Samaritan House prepares over 19,000 lunches each summer for children who normally qualify for free lunches at school. We also provide after-school snacks all year at community centers for these same children.
Backpack Giveaway We collect backpacks and school supplies each summer during our Back-to-School Drive. Client families, who wish to receive free backpacks and school supplies, sign up through our client services department. Like the Kids Closet, just about everyone donates to make this possible.
Holiday Toys From Thanksgiving through Christmas, we collect toys, books and warm clothing to give (along with holiday food). Client families register though our client services department. The whole community gets in on the fun of donating and delivering.
Wee Care Wee Care teaches thousands of students about the importance of giving. Parents and teachers, with the help of Samaritan House staff, teach children about the needs in our community and assist them in organizing food, clothing and toy drives. All donations are distributed to Samaritan House clients through our programs. This is hands-on values education and the kids love doing it!
