Ese verano, logr\u00e9 ingresar al refugio Safe Harbor, donde me dieron la oportunidad de reflexionar, recuperarme y crecer. Me asignaron a la administradora de casos de salud, Kat Barrientos, y nos reun\u00edamos semanalmente. Establecimos metas para m\u00ed. Comenc\u00e9 a ahorrar de forma intensiva en Safe Harbor, y durante ese tiempo, Kat fue una persona comprensiva y una mentora que no me juzg\u00f3. Mantuvo una mente abierta y me dio esperanza hasta que estuve lista para aceptarla por m\u00ed misma. Me brind\u00f3 el apoyo justo y necesario. En mi primera semana en Safe Harbor, consegu\u00ed un trabajo. Empez\u00f3 siendo de medio tiempo, 5 horas al d\u00eda, pero pronto se convirti\u00f3 en tiempo completo. Este fue un punto de inflexi\u00f3n muy positivo en mi vida.<\/p><p>A finales de agosto de 2016, pas\u00e9 de una cama de emergencia a una de transici\u00f3n. A partir de entonces, comenc\u00e9 a reunirme con mi gestora de casos cada dos semanas. Ella siempre estaba dispuesta a ayudarme cuando lo necesitaba. Aument\u00e9 mis ahorros de forma constante, consciente de que tendr\u00eda que reconstruir mi vida. Para mi gran alegr\u00eda, a finales de enero, el Condado de San Mateo me otorg\u00f3 un subsidio de vivienda. En marzo de 2017, consegu\u00ed mi propio apartamento. Tambi\u00e9n recib\u00ed un aumento de sueldo. En tan solo siete meses, pas\u00e9 de estar sin hogar a tener mi propio apartamento y un excelente trabajo.<\/p><p>Para tener \u00e9xito, hay que estar dispuesto a trabajar duro.
